Construction has begun!

Grade one began construction on our shelters this week! As teams, they were tasked to build shelters suitable to an environment with a lot of rain and some earthquakes. To do this they will have to take all of the knowledge they have acquired through their investigation of materials, roof structures, and maths to calculate the cost of materials as well as design and build their shelter. This unit also focused on students' social and communication skills to work as an efficient team. We cannot wait to see the finished products!

We were very fortunate to have Mr. Morineau as a guest speaker (via Zoom) to share his expertise working with shelters made to transport things. The students noticed some structural designs and the importance of many skills needed to build shelters. They also thought the explosions were cool and the cat was cute.

In arts, we dabbled into expressing ourselves with the impressionist, Claude Monet.

Finally, a very BIG THANK YOU to the PTA who generously delivered Easter treats to the school today!

 happy easter!
